I am Bob Franks - motivational rowing coach, speaker, and workshop leader for the novice rower. I love nothing more than to ease your anxiety and apprehension about beginning life on the water as a rower. With five years of specialized novice expertise and a passion to see my clients move from standing still to rowing hard, I want you to more than just row; I want you to row well and live!
“I’m passionate about helping my clients see their lives transformed though rowing as mine was six years ago. I was an out of shape 50 year old with high blood pressure, high blood sugar, and high cholesterol; and in need of serious help. Rowing changed my life and it can change yours."
I'm a certified level 1 and 2 US Rowing Coach, Southeast Regional Representative for USRowing, Chairperson for the Masters USRowing, President of Oak Ridge Rowing Association, and an active competitive rower.
It took me 50 years to reclaim my boyhood dream of being on the water. I set my oars and rowed myself into health and a new life style. Now, I want to serve others through this incredible sport. I want to see you succeed in your personal confidence, your health, and your aptitude in the sport.
I'm here to guide you through each and every single step of your training. I will offer honest feedback and practical insight, not only to help you succeed, but to exceed your own expectations of what you can accomplish. You can rely on the fact that I am here to encourage you, if you are feeling out of your comfort zone, because I've been there too!
With the patience and ability to see the novice rower’s needs early on, I can help you become all that you are meant to be. This is a lifelong learning sport . With my coaching and training methods, you can learn at your own pace and enjoy your time on the water.
My words of encouragement to you are:
Philippians 4:13 I can do everything through Him who gives me strength. Row hard, row well and live. Or, if neither of those works, I share what one of my friends and coaches said to me, when I was complaining about my rowing, “Suck it up Cup Cake!”
